I see a lot of suffering in my career as a Firefighter/Paramedic. I see the consequences of poor health, habits, and unhappiness. I see it in my patients, co-workers and sometimes, in myself. Not having a regular sleep schedule for 10 years, working and sleeping abnormal hours, and dealing with psychological stress have been the norm. I combat these by using strategies like meditation, proper nutrition, healthy relationships, and exercise, just to name a few.
